It’s a freakin’ Christmas miracle, my friends…
After weeks of feeling like a major scrooge- waiting for the holiday spirit to overcome me- I am finally feeling festive AF.
In conjunction with 30 of the finest bloggers the web has to offer, I am sharing my 2019 Christmas Home Tour. Hosted by my talented pal Marty from A Stroll thru Life, the full line-up of home tours is listed at the bottom of this page, and you don’t want to miss any of these homes. With such a diverse group of bloggers, there is plenty of inspiration for every style.
If you are joining me from The Woodgrain Cottage, I want to extend a warm welcome to you. Shayna has mastered the Modern Farmhouse vibe , and I am in awe of the magic she has worked on her fixer upper.
Like Shayna, I also adore Modern Farmhouse decor and have been renovating my first fixer upper home for almost five years now…

While I do have quite an eclectic taste in holiday and everyday decor alike, this year I have found myself gravitating more towards simplicity.
After purging my home of clutter back in January of this year, I was quite appalled with my hoarding tendencies. From craft supplies to pillows, and excessive seasonal decor, once I donated all of the frivolous items, I felt a million times lighter. It was like a weight had been lifted from my chest.
Not wanting to accumulate any more clutter, I vowed to myself that this year would be a minimalist-ish Christmas.
With that being said, I am not going to lie and tell you there wasn’t some adjusting to do…
In fact, while decorating for this tour, it felt sort of foreign implementing my holiday decor with such a light (or light to me) touch.
Despite the urge to add more to the mix, I practiced restraint as best as I could.
As you may have already noticed, fresh greens and wreaths establish the basis for my holiday theme.
To slightly glam up the vibe, I tied silk black ribbon around most of my wreaths and fresh Fraser Fir bundles (I simply used the clippings from my Christmas tree).
In my newly remodeled dining nook, these copper bells, which I found at Hobby Lobby, provided the perfect amount of bling.
As for my everyday decor, lately I have been gravitating towards a warmer color palette.
Incorporating plenty of blacks and beiges into my scheme, I decided to work with the same hues for my holiday theme as well.
In my newly painted living room (bye bye grey walls, hello white!), you can see that I carried a similar color scheme into the space.
I am super thrilled that this tour was scheduled later in the season than usual, because my family and I actually got to get a real tree this year.
While there are plenty of Christmas tree scented candles that will do the trick, there is nothing like the smell of a fresh-cut Fraser Fir.
Incorporating some extra holiday cheer on the coffee table, I filled a thrifted basket with copper, black and white Christmas ornaments. I also snagged some pretty convincing faux greenery from the Hearth and Hand line at Target. (So yes.. I did cheat by purchasing a few new holiday items).
I had so much fun adding touches of whimsy to our mantel (thank God for the magnolia tree in our front yard..free greenery is the best!)…
The black stockings were Target scores from last year (but you can get them here), so it was nice to put them to use again with some contrasting white fur varieties .
In an effort to add some of my authentic personality into the mix (yes, I am a potty mouth who also loves the Grateful Dead), I incorporated my DIY “Jolly AF” art into this vignette along with an original copy of the Dead’s American Beauty album and an adorable black reindeer (thanks for turning me into a mindless consumer, Target!)…
And while it may seem that I slightly abandoned my vow to a minimal Christmas, my bedroom returns to the original intention…
Just a bundle of fresh greens tied with a black ribbon is all you need to establish a festive, boho meets modern farmhouse feel.
So now that all of the holiday decorating is complete, I am going to take the remainder of this year to chill out and rest, my friends.
Hopefully, a holiday break will give me all the fuel I will need to tackle the many home improvement projects set for 2020.
Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas!
Next on the home tour lineup is Karianne of Thistlewood Farms. Not only is her home the stuff dreams are made of, she is incredibly creative. With an arsenal of DIYs and inspiration, you will leave her blog feeling uplifted and inspired.
