While I am not big on setting resolutions for the new year, each January, I do like the idea of turning over a new leaf.
In lieu of setting myself up for failure with unrealistic regimens and expectations (e.g., spin class, ketosis and sobriety) , I prefer to use the turn of each new year to freshen up my home and purge the things that no longer make me happy.
Take for instance, my modern farmhouse bedroom..
Master Bedroom Before:
While I enjoyed the space for quite some time (over two years actually), I was growing tired of the brown leather pillow and the farmhouse vibe in general.
I was craving something softer.
Not to mention, I neglected to share with you that this summer, I got brand-new carpet…FREE of charge!

In exchange for a marketing photoshoot of my bedroom, Shaw Floors gifted me with this gorgeous, high-end carpet.
For those of you who are interested, I went with their Subtle Aura collection in the color Delicate Cream.
While I have never been much of a carpet person, I was pretty surprised at just how much the new flooring elevated and updated the space.
After replacing the horse print over my bed with this handwoven wall decor , I struggled with design paralysis for nearly six months.
Truth be told, my husband and I have decided that this is not our forever home. So how much more money do I really want to dump into this room?
Nevertheless ,once I came across this beautiful beige rug for under $120, I gained a little more clarity on where I wanted to take the space.
These new Capiz shell lamps, were basically love at first sight. I think I actually may have some sort of Capiz fetish!
Lastly, the wool throw and beige lumbar pillow successfully tied my neutral yet modern color scheme together (Homegoods for the win!)
Given that we don’t plan on staying in this home much longer, I really want to begin appealing to a broader range of potential buyers.

Staging my home for sell …that is what I plan on focusing on for this new year.
Although we don’t plan on listing our current home until “the one” comes along, it doesn’t hurt to be prepared.
So while I would love to have done more of a dramatic transformation here, this simple refresh was the perfect compromise.
No new furniture or paint…
Just some soft touches here and there..

So nice to see a refresh that is totally doable- no wood wall treatments or painting necessary! Love the softer look. I also am removing most of the farmhouse vibes & going for cleaner, more updated look.

Sounds like we are on the same page, Liz. I am so happy you appreciated the "doable" approach (I typically feel the pressure to do something more dramatic and involved). Have a great week!
