Looking for moody, modern holiday decorating inspiration? Well you have come to the right place! Today, I am sharing my 2023 Christmas Home Tour!
Hello my love! Today, I wanted to open the doors of my lake cottage to you- sharing what my home looks like styled for the holidays. So..
Pour a glass of your favorite festive beverage, take off your coat and get cozy!
Welcome to my moody AF living room/den…
If you toured with me last year, you may notice I styled this room significantly different this Christmas.
You see..while I absolutely loved the high contrast of my flocked tree against the black walls (not gonna lie…I kind of miss it), this year,I was craving the presence of a real, live tree.
Playing off of the greenery of my live Fraser Fir, I even decided to lean a little more traditional with my holiday color scheme– incorporating burgundy velvet ribbon on my wreaths, swag and garlands.
On my linen couch, I added a moss-colored velvet pillow which carries that traditional holiday theme into an otherwise neutral, modern aesthetic.
While my live tree has been a bit messy and thirsty (we have actually nicknamed the tree “lush”), every time I walk into this room, the smell just makes me so damn happy.
For the remaining greenery, I grabbed some cedar clippings at my local Ace and used them on my media cabinets and over all of my art. Fingers crossed it is still all looking green by Christmas!
While I was tempted to trade some of my pampas stems for greenery, I actually like how they break up the monotony of all of the green and add a bit more visual interest into the mix.
I know my decision to keep the brick of my fireplace untouched has been a bit of a design controversy, but this time of year I love all of the warmth and coziness this raw material exudes. It truly grounds a home that is otherwise quite open and airy.
If you are among the pro-paint opinion, I truly think you just need to see it all in person (I find the brick much prettier in real life despite the fact I am not much of a brick person).
Directly on the other side of this fireplace is my kitchen…
While my kitchen could use some updating (the brown countertops have to freakin’ go), this space is actually one of my favorite rooms of the entire house- particularly in winter. There is just nothing like cooking up a batch of stew by the warmth of a fire.
To add a little holiday cheer to this utilitarian space, I utilized a little greenery and ribbon which I tied to the wall art lamps.
Did you happen to notice anything different here?
Just a few weeks ago, I painted my island black! I also replaced all of the existing hardware with Champagne brass finishes.
What can I say? I am really leaning into the moody aesthetic. Plus…it somehow makes my dated countertops look a little less sh*tty.
While I went pretty minimal with literal Christmas decor throughout most of the house, I did pull out some bottle brush trees and ceramic houses for this black hutch off of my kitchen.
Falling in love with the whole minimal tree trend I recently wrote about, I broke down and bought this precious little “sparse” tree for my dining room.
And it just dawned on me that I never revealed to you my newly painted glass doors (they were once raw wood) !
I was finally able to convince my husband to paint our wood-framed glass doors black.
Well..in all honesty, I am not sure that I convinced him as much as I decided to just take matters into my own freakin’ hands and paint them while he was away at work one day.
Other than the new Christmas tree and painted doors, I basically kept everything the same in my dining room.
Thank you so much for stopping by and spending some time with me today!
From the bottom of my heart, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and happy holiday season! Your support means more than you could ever know. xoxo
Now get out there and design some good vibes along with a fabulous life!
Sending you so much love!

Erica- Thank you for sharing your home- everything is gorgeous! I love the black island and doors, they look snazzy. I have natural brick in my sunroom and living room and I don’t see myself changing that, there’s just a warmth and coziness in my opinion- to each their own. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
