The holiday season comes with a mile-long to-do list with trimming the tree, finding the perfect gift, and attending all the festive gatherings just to name a few. With so much to juggle, to ensure your Christmas table isn’t a mere afterthought, today I’ve rounded up some stylish yet budget-friendly DIY centerpiece ideas to give you a head start on this busy a$$ time of year…
Ready or not, the holiday season is among us.
And while I personally don’t plan on pulling out the Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving ( I am old-school like that), I understand that many of you will and I can acknowledge that it certainly doesn’t hurt to go ahead and get a holiday game plan in place before the to-do list spirals out of control.
With so much focus on the tree and garland, it is easy to overlook the holiday table. In fact, in my 9 years of blogging I am not sure that I have ever even written a dedicated post on this subject matter.
So to right my wrongs, below I am sharing some super approachable yet stylish ways to create your own Christmas centerpiece….
1. Staggered Table Top Trees-
In terms of styling, you can never go wrong when pairing two of the same items in varying height( it just instantly looks “pulled together” and intentional). So back at my former residence, I used this designer hack to display my DIY concrete tabletop Christmas trees in my dining room.
Tip: To make this sort of centerpiece feel substantial enough to style on a long dining table, consider pairing your staggered trees with a bowl full of greenery or Christmas ornaments. You will want to be sure that your bowl sits noticeable lower than the staggered items.
2. Stylish Bowl Filled with Ornaments and Greenery-
For a modern, minimal centerpiece, here in my dining room, I filled a decorative bowl with vintage Christmas ornaments and cedar sprigs. If you have a larger bowl to work with, a trifecta of ornaments, pinecones and evergreen stems would be beautiful as well!
Tip: Because the bowl I was working with was smaller in scale (I was working on the fly), I paired it with a set of staggered candles. However if the bowl had been larger, it would have been substantial enough to be used as a standalone centerpiece. Bottomline: the bigger the bowl the better!
3. Fresh Evergreen Stems in a Decorative Vase-
A few years ago, in a major time crunch with no time for proper shopping, to decorate my dining room table for the holidays, I simply filled a glass vase with some fresh cedar stems I foraged from my own backyard. To add a little whimsy to the mix, I then used some butcher paper I had on hand as a table runner and then added some candles, ornaments and bottle brush trees to the table.
Tip: If you prefer a little extra color or interest, consider adding colorful red berry stems to your fresh evergreen centerpiece.
4. Assorted Bottle Brush Display-
So I know this fabulous holiday styling by @theoabode does not exactly involve a dining table, but I believe this assorted collection of bottle brush trees would translate beautifully as a centerpiece for your next Christmas gathering.
What especially keeps this look from falling flat is the use of various tones and sizes of trees used. For my fellow boho lovers, notice just how effortlessly the pampas stems pair with the texture of the trees. So freakin’ good!
5. Garland and Candles-
For understated elegance that smells as good as it looks, take a note from Camille Styles and drape live Leyland Cypress garland down the center of your table along with cinnamon-scented pine cones. Then for a magical glow, incorporate birch bark candles into the design. So simple, yet so impactful!
I hope this post leaves you feeling a bit more prepared to tackle your holiday check-list! As you can see from the examples I have shared today, you don’t need a big budget or hours of Pinterest-level crafting skills to create a stunning centerpiece for your table!
Thank you so much for stopping by and spending some time with me this week. If you found this post helpful, could you please help this small business of mine by sharing it with a friend or on social media…
Now get out there and design some good vibes along with a fabulous life!
