As summer approaches and we begin to gravitate more and more to our outdoor spaces, while it may seem like overkill to some (by “some”..I am mostly referring to a vast majority of you heterosexual males out there), it really isn’t unreasonable to desire the same degree of comfort and style from your most-frequented exterior areas as you would expect from your interior living or dining rooms.

While thoughtfully selected furniture and pillows can certainly work wonders for elevating your outdoor space, a properly sized rug not only injects pattern, color and texture into the mix, but it also masterfully defines and anchors seating zones.

As a rule of thumb, the front legs of your couch and/or chairs should comfortably fit on the rug. If you are buying for an outdoor dining table rug, make sure the entire table fits on top of the rug with an additional 24” on both sides so that the chairs can easily slide in and out .
