How To Display Art on Any TV

How To Display Art on Any TV

In today’s post, I am sharing how to display artwork on any ol’ TV- no fancy technology or apps necessary! I am also going to be showing you a little sneak peak of my upcoming Christmas home tour….

Two years ago, right before the holidays, the 50 inch flat screen TV that we have mounted in our living room conveniently died on us.

I facetiously say conveniently , because at the time, we were in the midst of a full bathroom remodel, had just dropped about $15,000 on new windows AND we were entering gift- giving season.

While I longed for the look of the Samsung Frame TV -which looks like a piece of artwork when not in use-at the time, we could not justify the hefty price tag.

And so, in our frantic search to simply replace what we had in the cheapest and most timely manner possible, we settled for an ol’ $500 smart tv.

And while my el cheapo smart tv is definitely no Frame TV, I figured out a simple hack for displaying art on it.

If you have a television with a usb port, you too can flaunt digital artwork that matches your home’s aesthetic!

Not only am I going to show you how I did it, I am providing a round-up of modern neutral TV art and a sneak peak of my upcoming Christmas home tour (so keep scrolling!)

How To Make a Flat Screen Television Look Like Artwork:

Equipment Required:

  • flatscreen tv with a USB port
  • USB flash drive

(Step 1). Once you have confirmed your TV has a usb port and you have a USB flash drive, you can get to shopping for digital artwork downloads on Etsy. The key is to search for “frame tv art” so that the digital artwork will have the proper dimensions.

Below, I have included a round-up of my favorite modern tv art.

(Step 2). Download the tv art file (following the Etsy seller’s directions) and save the files to your USB flash drive. You will want to create an album on the flash drive for the art. I labeled mine “TV Art”.

(Step 3). Once you have saved your art work to an album on your USB flash drive, plug the device into the proper port on your tv (my USB port was located in the back of my tv).

(Step 4). On your tv remote should be a button labeled “Source”. Press that button, and scroll to locate your flash drive. Mine was specififally labeled “USB Flash Drive” in the source list.

Press on the flash drive option and select the photo you would like to display. That’s all there is to it!

Note: It is important to note that you may need to do some editing to the exposure and/or brightness of your art. If need be, you can use a desktop photo editor or even email the file to your iphone and simply adjust the brightness.

While you could adjust the levels from your actual TV settings, this may not be optimal when it comes time to actually watch tv.

Directly below I have included affiliate links to all of my favorite TV art downloads….

If you would rather skip the flash drive and use an app like Amazon, Apple or Chromecast instead, Bless’er House has a helpful tutorial here as well. Unfortunately, we had difficulties with other methods (perhaps because our TV is junk) and had to resort to this particular old-school strategy.

Thank you so much for stopping by this week! Below is a little sneak peak of my holiday blog hop home tour which is going live on the blog next week(along with 30 other bloggers) ….
