Why You Feel Broken and How to Overcome It

In this Soul Hack Series post, I am sharing hope for anyone who has ever felt lost, broken or “off”. I have also included a guided meditation exercise to help you find clarity and remember who TF you are …

Have you ever felt broken?…. Like perhaps God was having an off day when he created you?

Whether your feelings of brokenness stem from depression, anxiety, lack of motivation, or the daunting demons in your head, I am here to tell you, you are not alone.

In fact, I have known that “broken” feeling since I was just a little girl.

Wrestling with extreme bouts of depression throughout my adolescence, it all came to a head when I tried to take my own life in college. Thank God my attempt failed!

And while it may sound crazy to admit, looking back now, I can see where this extreme moment of despair and desperation was ultimately a blessing in disguise.

Not only was my breakdown an eyeopener, teaching me to value my mental wellbeing over any sort of external validation, but it also sparked a rigorous self-development/ spiritual path that has completely altered the trajectory of my life for the better.

What I have come to learn throughout my long and arduous journey is that, it really is no wonder so many of us feel “off” or “broken” when you consider the society we live in.

In my heart, I know that we are all born onto this planet, as infants, perfectly whole , authentic and “knowing”.

But from the time we are old enough to absorb societal messaging from the media, the educational system, caretakers, dogmatic religions, etc, we are taught otherwise .

We are brainwashed to believe that we are incomplete and that, to be complete, we must seek something outside of ourselves.

We are taught that success and abundance is a one-size fits all concept and that everyone should want the same from life.

We are conditioned to believe that certain gifts and skills are superior- deeming others entirely worthless.

Ultimately, we are trained to deny our true selves and our true desires or else… risk being rejected from “the tribe”.

And so …we learn to play the game… the people-pleasing, overperforming robot game.

We forget who we are and why we came, and then we wonder why we feel like empty shells of ourselves.

But here’s the good news….your soul knows and has never forgotten!

In fact, so much of the self-development and spiritual work is simply unlearning all of the bullsh*t lies we have been programmed to believe.

It’s about unapologetically owning who we are and what we want- even if that means ruffling some feathers, enduring rejection or going against the grain .

If you feel broken, today I want to help transmute this pain into a more empowering force.

You see…if you are feeling “off”, perhaps it’s a sign that you are becoming more sensitive and attuned to what your soul and your true self is trying to tell you.

Stop numbing out this voice and listen up! What is your soul trying to tell you?

It is high time we stop valuing societal standards and other’s approval over our own f**cking happiness! This is a recipe for utter misery.

Success, happiness, and abundance looks unique to each individual and that is the way God intended it.
