I must confess…
With everything going on in the world right now, I have caught myself in a bit of creative block.
Not wanting to come off as frivolous or apathetic to the current societal climate, I have been uncertain of just what to post here as of late.
Nonetheless, when my fabulous friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life invited me to join her for a summer home tour, along with 28 other incredible bloggers listed at the bottom of this post, I knew I had to pull myself together, dust off the trusty ol’ camera and get to creating again.
Not only am I going to show you how I have styled my 1980’s rancher for summer, at the end of my tour, I am going to show you a sneak peak of my super exciting new waterproof hardwood flooring I (by “I”, I mean my husband) have been installing throughout our entire fixer upper.

In a sponsored partnership with Shaw Floors, this project , which has been a long time in the making, is essentially complete. And while I did not get it finished in time to photograph for this actual tour (we literally finished the floors two nights ago), I thought some of you might be interested to see what I have been working on.
So with that in mind, my tour photos were taken before we tore our house apart with the flooring project. I took them “just in case” we didn’t finish in time for the blog hop, and it was a good thing I did. I will be doing detailed tutorials and reviews on the flooring within the next few months, so stay tuned!
Also, be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to see a candid shot of my new hardwood flooring along with the full Summer Home Tour lineup. It would be a shame for you to miss out on any of these inspiring home tours.

If you are joining me from StoneGable, I would like to extend a big virtual hug to you. I absolutely adore Yvonne’s timeless, classy aesthetic and her delicious recipes aren’t too shabby either.
Welcome to my first-ever fixer upper home which my husband and I have been remodeling for the past six years. (To see the before/after tour, you can click here)
This is my neutral Boho Farmhouse living room…
Get a good last look at my Ikea Ektorp arm chairs and buckled, cherry hardwood flooring…
Given I have already covered these old floors with the new click hardwood product, this is the last time you will ever see them in my home. Bye Felicia!
And while the beige Ikea arm chairs have had an incredible six-year run, I sold these babies on Facebook Marketplace last night and will be applying the profit to more modern, leather seating.
Although the slip-covered arm chairs will not be making a return, I simply could not part with their sofa counterpart.
Because the dark grey fabric has proven to be highly functional with my destructive children, it gets to stay… for now at least.
If you were here for my Christmas tour, you may notice not much has changed in this room.
Knowing for quite some time that we would be re-flooring pretty much our entire home, I decided to practice major restraint, and not invest in any new decor until I saw the new oak hardwoods installed.
In fact, the only new addition to my summer-styled living room are the sleek wagon wheel chandeliers (which you can get here).
I love how versatile these lights truly are. I could see them working beautifully in a more traditional space or modern space alike.

Moving on to the newly finished Master bathroom, my husband and I began this project at the very end of 2019 and did not finish until February of this year…
While many components of this bathroom remodel were DIY, we did hire professionals to knock out a wall between the shower and bath and to also install the new shower.
After resenting the hell out of my outdated cave of a bathroom for five years, I finally have an airy, spa-like oasis that I can retreat to when things get crazy (this has especially been helpful during the whole homeschooling nightmare we just wrapped up).
Now to my absolutely favorite part of my home during the summer months….

Our secluded backyard pool deck is where you will be finding my family and I basically every freakin’ weekend.
Frozen cocktails (Popsicles for the kids of course), grilled burgers and gooey s’mores are the staple of our summer diet- ain’t no shame in our game…life is too short!
Three years ago, we had to completely demo the existing pool and deck (you can read all about that drama here), but looking back, it was totally worth all of the trouble…
We have definitely got our money’s worth. (If you look closely, you will also see a trampoline behind the deck).
The goal of this space was always to have a fun space for not only our boys, but for the adults as well.
While I haven’t changed much of the outdoor decor this year , I did add a few new cushions to freshen things up a bit. I love how timeless a good black and white color scheme can be.
Replacing a badly weathered dining set, I had my husband build a modern, solid wood dining table for under $80 (here is the tutorial)….
I opted for kid-friendly chairs- void of the potential for any staining and maintenance.
Being outside in all of mother nature’s glory is undoubtedly what is keeping me sane during these crazy times. There is something so calm and restorative about the outdoors.
