My 2018 Fall Home Tour

My 2018 Fall Home Tour

What does a basic, white girl do when she needs to decorate her home for fall, but just can’t get into the spirit? She lights a Pumpkin Latte candle and allows the fumes to go straight to her brain,  my friends. That’s what she freakin’ does.

And thanks to that Pumpkin Latte candle, this basic white girl was finally able to get her act together – concocting her own interpretation of autumnal decor- all for your viewing pleasure.(Okay, let me stop referring to myself in the third person. I know it’s probably getting confusing).

Anyhow…today I am sharing my Modern Farmhouse meets Boho Chic Fall home tour…

For your shopping convenience, I have included affiliate links.

Starting in the foyer, all I really did here was add some heirloom pumpkins and decorative wood beads.

I found the chunky, wood beads in the fall section at Hobby Lobby for less than $5. I love  the texture and subtle interest that they add to the vignette.

Before we move on to the living room, I just want to point out the obvious theme of this year’s fall tour: Basically… when in doubt, add some damn pumpkins to your life!

And where pumpkins may not suffice, you can certainly toss in some comfy throw blankets or copper mugs. (Might I even suggest huffing Pumpkin Latte fumes? It worked for me. )

I was particulrly enamored with this pumpkin I found at the grocery store….

Not sure if it has some rare disease or if it is truly some obscure gourd/pumpkin, but I loved  its texture which reminds me of rattan.

Surprise …surprise! Another fall vignette complete with pumpkins!…..

And I finally scraped up enough change to buy some designer pillows (Yeah…some women buy designer bags. I buy designer pillows!)

The teal one is a Danielle Oakey pillow made from vintage fabric and the leather one is from Stitched by Grace. I love how the leather adds some warmth to the space…making it seasonally appropriate. Danielle Oakey’s pillows have that perfect, modern blend of boho meets farmhouse vibes, and if I could afford it, I would wallow in her pillows all day long.

Here on my newly re-styled bookshelves, I incorporated some cute, mini pumpkins.

And while I didn’t do any seasonal styling in my bedroom, I just wanted to show it off to those of you who may have missed last week’s reveal (which you can read about here).

And yes….there’s that gorgeous leather pillow again. When I find something I love, I have the tendency to sometimes over do it (ya know…chocolate, wine, leather pillows-it’s all pretty comparable).

As far as the kitchen is concerned, I kept my fall styling pretty minimal.

I cut some magnolia branches from my front yard and placed them in a glass vase. I also added some pears to my fruit bowl and then lit my Pumpkin Latte candle (which smells freakin’ amazing). Side note: I actually found my pumpkin candle at TJ Maxx for $5 and it smells just as amazing as those expensive Bath and Body Works candles.

And while I was pretty disappointed in Target’s fall decor selection this year, I did happen to find this cute, “Hello Fall” hand towel for $3.

In my newly-designed dining room (which you can read about here), I decided to go crazy with the pumpkins yet again. After all, I did practice great restraint in the kitchen.

I warned you earlier, friends. This year’s fall decor formula is pretty simple….

Pumpkins + copper + cozy throw blankets = fail-proof fall vibes.

Speaking of cozy throw blankets, the flannel throw is actually a scarf I found at Hobby Lobby for $5. I definitely let my inner farmhouse-lover run wild in this space.

And while I conjured much of  my autumnal spirit from a pumpkin candle, I may have also indulged in a few pumpkin beers during the decorating process.

So perhaps my surge in seasonal-inspired creativity was truly a  a blend of pumpkin beer and candle fumes.

boho fall decor on bar cart

Just imagine this comical scene..

It’s 90 degrees outside and I am running frantically through the grocery store with a shopping cart full of  heirloom pumpkins, gourds, mums and pumpkin beer. If that doesn’t scream basic, white girl, I don’t know what does. (Life of a blogger, I suppose!)

Last but not least is the mudroom- where I really played up the kitsch with a “fall” burlap banner I got at Hobby Lobby and a metal bucket (also purchased at Hobby Lobby) full of mums. And there you have it, my friends. This is my interpretation of fall.

Hopefully my tour gave you a a bit of fall decor inspiration. At the very least, maybe it inspired you to go huff some pumpkin-scented candles.

Now get out there and design some good vibes. Please also be sure to spread the love by Pinning…

Erica I had no idea there was such a thing as pumpkin beer. Well that does it! I would prefer pumpkin wine, do they even make that? I am so behind on these trends. Your home looks great with just the right amount of pumpkin and I am certain it must smell amazing. We just got some pumpkin spice and add it to our coffee in the morning. My favorites are your green pumpkins in the dining room.

haha! I am not sure that pumpkin wine is a thing, but it totally should be. I bet it would be delish.

Bahaha! Extra funny today, Erica. Yes. So far in my home for fall I have added 1 white mini pumkin (in a bowl on the top of our piano which is in the middle of our open floor plan so it's highly visible lol) and it is surprisingly effective in evoking the change of season! I plan to add a candle on a side table and an extra couple of textured, or fur, throws. And switch out one of my art pieces for something more fallish. That'll do me! Truly, all you need is a suggestion of fall, not dozens of dust collecting objects on every surface.

Preach, friend! I am totally with you on that. Plus...I don't have the storage space for a bunch of "seasonal junk". I am sure your home looks gorgeous. Happy fall.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for designing on an average persons budget! Many bloggers post the most expensive items (which are spectacular...but) and it is frustrating because your average person can't afford it. I love following you!

I totally understand the struggle, my friend. Even if I did have hundreds to spend on seasonal decor, I just don't think it makes much sense. Thank you so much for the kind words...it truly means the world to me. xoxo
