So far, the new year has been loaded with productivity and inspiration. Today, I wanted to share some of the fruits of my labor with the reveal of my boho- chic bedroom.
At the bottom of my post, I have listed sources for most of the decor included. So, be sure to stick around for the entire reveal.
For anyone wanting to see the “before” situation, check out this post.
Guys, my boho chic bedroom makes me so happy…photos really don’t do the space justice. In fact, the room has so much natural light that it can be a little tricky to shoot (I know that sounds contrary, but all of the mirrored furniture and direct beams of light make for some crazy reflections).
The only regret/challenge I really faced when decorating the room was the rug situation. You see, I am actually a real stickler about rug sizing, and unfortunately my design plan was compromised when I ordered an 8×10 rug to go under my bed. The damn thing would not lay flat, and the more we tried to correct the wrinkling, the more we agitated it. Eventually, it became a safety hazard (imagine me shouting obscenities every time I tripped over the bunched rug). As a result, I gave up on “proper” rug placement and settled with some smaller rugs( don’t judge!).
Because we had just invested in new furniture less than three years ago, I had to work with what I had. Most of the transformation would be executed through fresh paint and textiles.
Essentially, I craved a room that felt cohesive with the rest of my home- a space that felt fresh and current. I wanted the room to exude a subtle hint of “sexy” without feeling stuffy, pretentious or stale.
Given the furniture was very feminine and somewhat traditional, I knew the only way I could inject fresh, boho flair would be through the use of artwork and patterns.
I began the transformation with a fresh wall color, Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams. With all of the white decor, I knew I wanted a grey with a bit of warmth. While it is not warm enough to be considered a true “greige”, it is a beautiful, soft neutral. In certain lighting it has a bit of a purple undertone, but it only seems to show in early morning light.
Looking back at these photos, I see some minor imperfections with my bed-making skills. Please do forgive me….trying to photograph a clean room with a toddler and 9- month- old, contending with limited daylight, is a true effing struggle. No way I am going through that torture again just to get a shot with a more perfected pillow chop or skillfully folded blanket. Hell to the no!
Trying to stay within a pretty tight budget, I decided not to replace the chandelier (the one I was lusting after was $600). I mainly invested in textiles with new pillow covers, rugs and window treatments.
To give the room a light and airy vibe, I selected white curtains. To add warmth and texture, I also included woven, Roman shades. As an added bonus, the Roman shades are functional for darkening the room on lazy Sundays.
Continuing on with the injection of texture, I took the mother of pearl lamps that were once in my dining room, and put them in the bedroom.
I think the lamps were truly meant for my bedroom. Luckily, the old lucite lamps look beautiful in my dining room…a win-win situation!
The evolution of this room just goes to show that you don’t have to completely start from scratch to attain a new aesthetic. New paint and textiles can truly go a long way.
You may me wondering why this post is titled “part 1”. Well, there is another portion of my room not photographed. It is a hallway/foyer with a vanity, closet and bathroom entrance. I am waiting for a new quartz , counter-top to be installed on the vanity and I will reveal “part 2” as soon as it is complete.
Please be sure to share the love and Pin…

Beautiful makeover, Erica! The "before" was pretty too. :) Love the blues and whites, and all the different textures you added to warm up the cooler/modern color scheme. That mudcloth pillow is gorgeous. It pairs so well with the art above! Congrats on successfully photographing the room with your tots in tow. :)
