Summer Home Tour

Summer Home Tour

Sharing is caring!

So I know I am a little late in the game, but I wanted to share a mini-summer home tour with you guys today. Better late than never, right?

As you all know, I love coastal, contemporary decor. Consequently, summer is typically my favorite decor season.

To my dismay, I recently had to replace my beloved white Ikea Ektorp slipcover with a darker and more stain resistant Nordvalla gray. While I preferred the white, my boys destroyed the white to the point of no return.

No matter how much bleach and oxy-clean I used,  I couldn’t get some of the stains out.

To pep myself up for the transition, I splurged and bought some shibori pillow covers from Society 6. Indigo makes me happy and the tie-dye patterns delight my inner hippie.

Luckily, I was able to keep the white covers on my Ektorp chairs as they have remained in great shape. To provide a more light and airy vibe, I decided to exchange the silver silk drapes for my hacked Ikea curtains which you can read about here .

In my world,  summer and frozen beverages go hand in hand. Of course my favorite is margaritas and I have a low-cal version I will be sharing with you in the upcoming weeks.

Trying to get shots of my house void of toys, crumbs on the floor or children is nearly impossible as you can see.

And for those of you who didn’t read my previous post, I replaced my upholstered chairs with a rattan variety which I found on Craigslist. Not only do they allow for a more earthy, coastal feel….they are child friendly!!!

I can never get enough turquoise, blown glass in my home. I love how soothing the colors are when the sunlight gleams through.

Yes, my husband and I enjoy the sauce. It is the only way to survive parenthood with a sense of humor.

Erika the inner hippie in me approves. You have no idea how many slip covers I went through. Yours is pretty and neutral enough that it looks good in the room and even coordinates with the curtains. All those blues are a breath of fresh air in your home. My favorite photo... the one of your boy racing through the dining room!
