Not Your Basic Witch – 5 Fresh Takes on Halloween Decor

Not Your Basic Witch – 5 Fresh Takes on Halloween Decor

Sharing is caring!

One can become so inundated with the mainstream’s interpretation of decor, that the thrill of design gets lost. Trust me, I know. In fact, I have not even gotten started on my Halloween styling. And not to offend any of you farmhouse fanatics, but if I see one more burlap wreath…I might just vomit.

So uninspired by the ho-hum, status-quo’s take on Halloween and fall decor, I decided to round up some fresh inspiration. And I am so honored to consider these talented individuals my peers. No basic witches here… and the proof is in the decor.

Domicile 37 – MASQUERADE INSPIRED HALLOWEEN MANTEL

Domicile 37 Masquerade Mantel

Domicile 37‘s masquerade mantle proves you don’t have to be kitschy to make a wicked statement. Muted pieces with pops of gold play beautifully off of a black brick fireplace: elegance meets festive at its finest. To see how Jess created this look, head over to her blog.

Iris Nacole – Fall-oween Tour

Iris Nacole - Falloween Tour

While Iris Nacole has mastered the art of neutral glam, she still managed to implement some spooky accessories for her little one. Black and gold accents work beautifully against a backdrop of neutral, transitional decor. To view her full Fall-oween tour, click here.

Go Haus Go – Halloween Tour

Although Emily from Go Haus Go incorporates plenty of traditional elements and colors into her Halloween scheme, her home manages to still exude a modern and fresh vibe. If executed with thought, customary pieces can feel unexpected. To view Emily’s full Halloween tour, click here.

A Designer at Home – Halloween Mantle

A Designer at Home- Halloween Mantel

A Designer at Home shows us that kitschy is not necessarily a bad thing if done properly.  In fact,  kitschy can be fabulous. While most of Corinna’s boho-eclectic home remains neutral, she manages to sneak some ghoulish embellishments onto her mantel. To view more of her Halloween mantel, head over to her blog.

Boxy Colonial – A Decomposing Composer’s Halloween

Boxy Colonial Halloween decor

The award for ghostliest decor definitely goes to Gretchen of Boxy Colonial. Her “decomposing composer’s” Halloween theme could have gone terribly wrong but with her artful eye, it somehow works. Oddly enough, skeletons and cobwebs appear to have some sort of Old World charm against a wall of  Impressionist prints. To see how this look was accomplished, click here.

If the influx of farmhouse decor has got you in a decorating rut, I hope you were able to find some fresh inspiration. No basic witches here!

Now get out there and design some good vibes.

Much Love,
Erica

Yes, Mary. There is nothing wrong with farmhouse, but it seems to be all that I see in my Pinterest feed. I wanted to show readers there are other ways to decorate. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Erica, I think of Halloween as a glorious imaginative time for children. When I see blow-up pumpkins, witches, cobwebs draped everywhere and a few grave markers in the yard I smile. I must not be a sophisticated decorator as I like these. The examples of Halloween decor are nice for adults but miss the mark with a family. Thanks for the look in blogs I did not know. I hope you have a Happy Halloween just as you would like!
